SQ4R Method For Academic Reading

I have got the SQ4R experience by reading the 1st chapter of the book "Management Information System" by Judith R Gorden,at APIIT library on 22nd of march 2013.

Describing my experience without SQ4R method........

As usual i read whole chapter word by word spending more than 25 minutes.its very boring to read the whole chapter & cant get a real idea about the chapter at once.all the headings are looked like important,so cant recognize very important headings out of those.cannot remember the whole chapter.

Describing my experience with SQ4R method........

first i roughly go through the 1st chapter & got the main idea of the whole chapter by a paragraph. And using this SQ4R method i simply go through the headings and sub headings by understanding the idea.

Then i turned  those headings in to questions and gave answers myself.

With using this SQ4R method its easy to go through the chapters and can remember most of the chapters by headings.
Spent less than 20 minutes for the hole chapter.
This method is interesting

Notes taking stratagies

To be successful in notes taking, first we have to be active during the lectures time and should listening to lectures well.

Preparation for effective note taking,

-before going to class we have to read the notes at least once
-we have to supply necessary equipment for the studies
-arrival to class early
-write down everything the lecturer writes on the board

Note taking tips,

when we study we have to make the lecturer's notes in to our own ideas & make our own notes
when we refer to the books  we should add our own ideas also
